The Leadership at Redborne gives students in years 9-13 the opportunity to extend the leadership skills they have learnt in at lower and middle schools, or to become part of a programme for the first time.
The academy gives students the chance to learn in both a theory and a practical environment. It is particularly invaluable for students who are thinking of pursuing a career in teaching, coaching, working with young people, or if they simply want to volunteer as a local coach in the future in a club environment.
Students are provided with a timetable of events throughout the year including in house training, helping deliver festivals and competitions, supporting the delivery of county finals, first aid courses as well as having the opportunity to achieve further qualifications in sport.
All members of the programme are rewarded for their achievements and success is celebrated. Students have a target of achieving their Bronze (50hrs volunteering), Silver (100hrs volunteering) or Gold award (200hrs volunteering) during their time at upper school. Many of the students make up their hours through volunteering in local clubs or assisting other middle or lower schools.
